Mount Bromo Sunrise Hiking


Mount Bromo is an active volcano and part of the Tengger massif, in East Java, Indonesia. At 2,329 meters (7,641 ft) it is not the highest peak of the massif, but is the most well known. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in east Java, Indonesia. The volcano belongs to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The name of Bromo derived from Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu creator God.

Duration of Activity:

  • 9:00 AM - Start from Bali heading to Gilimanuk harbor in west Bali, then take a ferry to Ketapang harbor in East Java and continue towards Bromo.
  • 6:30 PM - Arrival at the hotel and overnight stay in Bromo.
  • 3:30 AM - Start the trip by organized Jeep, taking about one hour to reach Penanjakan, the sunrise point.
  • 6:15 AM - The sun rises, offering a breathtaking view of the National Park of Bromo Crater and Sea Sand. Breakfast can be taken here or at the hotel.
  • 7:30 AM - Begin the trek to the crater (either by foot or horseback), approximately 1.5 km, then hike up 240 steps to reach the main crater.
  • 8:30 AM - Finish the hike and return to the hotel.
  • 11:00 AM - Check out and drive back to Bali.
  • 9:00 PM - Arrival at the hotel in Bali.
